Karel Doing is an independent artist, filmmaker and researcher whose practice investigates the relationship between culture and nature by means of analogue and organic process, experiment and co-creation.
During his residency at Laia-Torre he has taken a close look at the plants, flowers and trees that can be found in Porto. The artist has created a multi-layered hypnotic sequence that brings the unobtrusive presence of urban nature to the foreground, revealing the ornamentation that shapes the urban landscape. The frames seem to be thorn apart by a primal light that both energises and destroys the images.
