S.P.A.C.E. - project Deborah S. Phillips

Deborah S. Phillips is a visual artist working with various analogue media for more than 30 years. She has presented 16mm films (sometimes s8 and 35mm too) and performances using 16mm in dozens of countries while also continually working as a printmaker. Materiality and process are the links between many of these works.

For S.P.A.C.E., DSP will work with sequences of film remnants from previous projects (16mm and s8 as well as slide collages) to experiment with the possibilities of multiple projections in a space with the involvement of visitors, who will become screens or use mirrors to “throw” projections together with other sources of light to create complex moving 3-D compositions. Visitors will be invited a few times during the residency and put to work!
