Kerstin Schroedinger, working in performance-based video, film and sound, researches the means of image production, historical linearity and the ideological certainties of representation in the coinciding histories of industrialisation and film.
In the S.P.A.C.E. residency, Kerstin experiments with colorizing black and white archival photographs through reconstructing early color film processes of Autochrome and two and three-strip Technicolor. The archival material comes from research into archeological, colonial and military photography in the late Ottoman Empire. This research is done in the framework of Industries of Denial, a collaborative project with Angela Melitopoulos.
