S.P.A.C.E. - International Residency - Adina Ionescu-Muscel

Adina Ionescu-Muscel, the first international resident in S.P.A.C.E., is presenting her work 'Ephemera happenings', a multi projector installation that explores speculative storytelling by sharing the control over the narrative with plants and matter agencies.

Adina Ionescu-Muscel is a belgo-romanian visual artist living in Brussels, working with installation, photography and video. Very much influenced by speculative narratives and contemporary philosophers (Haraway, Despret, Latour) she started experimenting with 16 mm film as a tool for including matter agency in the process of storytelling.

Her current research as a visual artist is organised around the notion of agency (capacity to act) and the need to tune into other beings’ worlds as a starting point for imagining creative interactions. She borrowed from her training as an anthropologist the ethnographic fieldwork methodology that she applies in her artistic practice. The choice of silver film as an inquiring tool allows her to release the expressive potential of matter in order to multiply perspectives: ways of seeing, feeling and experiencing the world around us.
